alrights. hahas. this will be a
less informal post from me. a
brief introduction about me,
i am a guy who love adventure and
love to travel around. so i have
been to OBS Singapore, Malaysia Endua Rompin National
Park for adventure training, Brunei's
Temburong Jungle for jungle training
and recently, New Zealand for a more
leisure type of oversea trip, which is
known as Ex. Thunder Warrior or New
Zealand ICEP.

What is ICEP?
ICEP stands for International Cadets Exchange
Programme, a programme liases between NCC
and military cadet forces of other countries
such as USA, UK, Australia, NZ and many others.
it is quite a worthful trip i must say. firstly
i paid only $250SGD for my NZ trip, that includes
accommodation, most of the meals and to and fro
airplane flight. let me tell you. the MINDEF is
just too rich. hahas. usually you will have home stay
programme with the local cadets and let me tell
you, they are just so great. i can't tell you
much here, you can only find out more if your
participate it on your own. but just to let
you know, this is the best trip ever in my
whole life, better than our school's china imersion!

Why did I want to go?
nothing much. hahas. i didn't intend to go.
but i didn't get to travel in the december
holidays, so i have decided to reward myself
by trying to apply for this trip. although
at first i did regret signing up and tried to
make myself 'flung' during the inetrview, i
still got in. hahas. so i just accepted it
and took a step towards it. and let me tell you,
i didn't regret. (:

Bad points I have to consider before going?
1) Studies! missing one week of school is no joke.
this is rather the main problem, having to miss
a lot of tests. hahas.
2) NCC! i have to 'dump' all my duties temporary to
wei en so it will be quite hard on him. hahas.
3) Physical! nah i didn't grow fat, in fact i grew
fitter. hahas. as long as you have the mindset
to train, you will get fitter and fitter no matter
what.

What is my trip about?
In an overview, my trip is about 10D9N, with
two full days used for travelling as we had to
transit in Bangkok to Auckland. we had about 2
days of homestay and the rest is just hopping
around till we get to the SAF base. things were
rather expensive, i spent $200 on food and souvenir.
okays. so let us go to the point:

i will only say fun stuffs, because i don't want to
bored you will my itinery. hahas.
2nd Day
let me tell you, my buddy name's Brandon,
and i think he got the best house ever.
if you had ever watched nights in rodanthe,
his house is something like that. hahas.
too bad currently i can't seemed to contact him
so cant get the pictures of his house from him.
we had long days short nights in NZ, so his dad
decided to take us (me and jiahui, another ncc cadets)
out to the lake beside his house for a drift,
on his cool speed boat that goes up to more than
50km/h. hahas. so we changed into his very cool
wetsuit, and got on the boat. both jiahui and me
got the chance, for the first time of our life,
to drive a speed boat. then we sat on a 'biscuit',
something like a banana float attached to the back
of his boat and let me tell you, wild wild wet
is nothing. hahas. then we got back and had dinner.
nothing much. hahas.

3rd Day
the main thing was we went to the tree adventure,
where we did a lot alot of tough high elements
and endless of flying fox. hahas. it was superb.
and after going to the tree adventure, obs is nothing.
hahahas. then we went to murawai beach, where the
sand is black, and the waves are like so high.
we had sand fight and i got sand in my pants.
it was really fun. then it was the farewell dinner
as we were leaving the next day so it was quite sad. hahas.

4th Day
most of teh time spent today was on travelling to Roturua, a town
under a volcano. so it smelled like rotten eggs there. hahas.
visited a mini park that have mud pools e.g. then got back
and sleep at the cramped HQ of theirs (where we interact with
a different batch of nz cadets). hahas. nothing much
bah. just that the only fun thing was that my friends and I
begin to treat the toilets like life range, we had details,
double, empty and half feeding. so toilet became a fun place
for us to interact.

5th Day
went to a 'Volcano' Park and Maori Concert with the nz cadets.
maori is a local race of nz, something like indians
in spore. they look like red indians. hahas. then it was
time to bid goodbye and went to Waiouru camp, where
a saf base is set up in a nz camp. a lot of travelling ah.
when we got there, Neil, forgot to introduce him, our
driver and guy for the trip, a former SAS of NZ, which is
like commandos to them. and to be a commando of NZ is really
very very tough. hahas. Neil got us to play bball and soccer
in the indoor stadium of the camp. btw the camp has like a
minimart and cafe, and a mini store like carrefour. then
all the guys got half naked and started playing. hahas.
my bunks were cozy and the toilets are nice. with heater.

6th Day
meals there were nice. but the morning was so cold
till you can see the 'smoke' coming out of your mouth
when your speak. hahas. then we had a little lecture
before getting the the actual Ex ThunderWarrior site.
and to our disappointment, it was an actual waste of time.
we missed the phase of intergrated battle with all the
guards, and commandos, but we could only viewed the
firing of the artillery. which is nothing much. hahas.
but still. the scenery is the best. the firing site of
waiouru camp is the place where lord of the rings was filmed,
with all the local soldiers being the oxmen. hahas.

7th Day
we had a boring morning with a lecture about one of the
artillery guns by the SAf people, followed by the visiting
to the army musuem. this day just passed quite fast. nothing
much just that we got plenty supply of snacks everyday by the SAF.
i can't post those sensitive pictures of SAF so bear with me. hahas.
then we had a little run around the camp.

8th Day
was quite a fun day. had white water rafting but
had endless of sandflies. hahas. but still, not
as exciting as my buddy's boat. hahas. it was really
a fun time in it. hahas. but too bad the pictures
are with my friend so can't get it up till the aar
presentation in HQ.

9th and 10th day was mostly travelling with a stay in
bangkok for one night.

My feelings after the trip?
I know my situation, i know my post. i know i have
to put down my duties for this trip but i didn't
regret, because nothing much is happening at the
period whereby i'm gone. the 10D9N seemed so long
and i'm so faraway from home but i had fun. i met
new friends that turned out to be people with common
interest and we became good friends, friends that we
could still laugh at the things we did during the trip,
not those common HQ friends oyou will forget after a
camp or course. i seriously had a lot of fun during this
trip, get to experience a different lifestyle that night
only sets in after 9pm. the life in new zealand is peaceful
and slow-paced, with innocent ships and cows roaming the
hills, unlike the bustful life of singapore. at first i
really regret and dread doing to the trip, but after the
trip, i learned a lot of things. how care and concern towards
someone could get, but the main thing is, i learned how
to take a step towards life. at first i thought i will
regret, but in the end it was a really fruitful trip.
we, need to learn how to take a step towards life,
you might not know the ending, you will only know
it after you had taken the step, but still, you tried.
guys, i will be passing out soon, for you all, who still
have a long way to go, if you want to go for something
but you don't dare, just go for it. this is life.
don't wait till you regret, because this is parts
and parcels of life, where you will grow. i hope
that you will make the best out of your ncc life,
a meaningful one. for everything you do, don't regret.
learn from it.
